The Saint Paul Public Library presents sound art duo Beatrix*JAR for a series of free workshops for teens.
Beatrix*JAR is a conceptual electronic music duo consisting of sound artists Bianca Pettis (Beatrix) and Jacob Aaron Roske (JAR). Recipients of the 2010 Bush Fellowship in Media Arts, the duo has collaborated and toured extensively spreading the word of D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) electronics with hands-on circuit bending workshops and wondrous sound collage performances.
The duo will be conducting their circuit bending workshops at the library. Participants will learn to use circuit bending to turn battery powered toys into musical instruments and unleash sounds the manufacturer never intended from devices like children's toys and keyboards! Participants will leave with an instrument the world has never seen before.
Workshops are intended for youth ages 12 and up. Space is limited - call to reserve your spot. Walk-ins welcome until space is filled.
