Reading Tips

Enjoy time with books every day. If your child enjoys books, he will want to learn how to read.
Look for letters everywhere! Say their names and the sounds they make.
Help your child learn new words. Knowing many words will help her recognize and understand them when she learns how to read.
Spend time talking with your child. She is learning how language works.
Show your child that reading matters. Make grocery lists and write letters together.
Help your child hear the sounds within words. Sing songs and say rhymes together.
Talking and playing with your child helps him get ready for school.
If your child sees you reading for fun and information, he'll want to learn how to read too.
