Circuit Bending Workshop |
 |

August 7, 2 p.m.-- Postponed until this fall.
This Beatrix*JAR workshop transforms circuit board to sonic canvas and gives recycled toys a new life as unique new musical instruments. A direct result of experimentation and play, circuit bending requires very little technical know-how to get started.
Please bring a battery powered toy and extra batteries for the circuit bending workshop. |

Special Collections
Deaf and Hard of Hearing Collection |

The Merriam Park Branch Library maintains a collection of resources concerning American Sign Language, Hearing Loss, Coping Strategies, and Deaf Heritage. Materials in the collection include books, close-captioned videos, ASL videos, videos about deaf and hard-of-hearing issues, and signed children's books.
The collection began with a transfer of materials from the library of the Metro Regional Service Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People.
Materials are available in person or through interlibrary loan, to anyone with a current library card from a public library in Minnesota.To enhance library service, the Merriam Park Branch collaborates with the following providers of service to deaf and hard of hearing people:

Bungalow Collection |

The Bungalow Collection began in 1996 with a donation of materials from the Twin Cities Bungalow Club, and has been expanded since then with ongoing donations.
The books and magazines in the collection focus on bungalow homes and on the Arts & Crafts movement. Also included are related materials on architecture, urban design, and gardens. The materials are part of the regular collection at the Merriam Park Branch and can be checked out with a library card or requested through Interlibrary Loan. A list of materials in the collection is maintained by the Merriam Park branch library and can be viewed at the Information Desk. |

The Merriam Park Branch Library is located at 1831 Marshall Avenue, at the intersection of Fairview and Marshall Avenues.
Driving Directions
From the east or west, take I-94 to the Snelling Avenue exit. Go south on Snelling for 3 blocks and turn right on Marshall Avenue. Follow Marshall Avenue to Fairview Avenue The library is on your right at the intersection of Marshall and Fairview. Cross Fairview and pull into the parking lot on the west side of the library.
From the north, take Snelling Avenue south to Marshall Avenue. Turn right on Marshall and follow Marshall Avenue to Fairview Avenue The library is on your right at the intersection of Marshall and Fairview. Cross Fairview and pull into the parking lot on the west side of the library.
