Come alone or with friends and play Life, Sorry, Clue, and other board games. For grades 3-6.

Teen Knitting Group

   

Wednesdays, 2 - 3 p.m., July 9 - August 20

Do you like to knit? Would you like to learn how? We'll supply needles, yarn, and coaching for your first project: scarves for a local shelter.

If you're already a knitter, you're welcome to bring your own project to work on. We'll have visits by guest knitters and plan a field trip by city bus to a local yarn shop.

If you're interested, stop at the Sun Ray Information Desk and let staff know or call 651-501-6300 to register. It's not a commitment - you're just giving us an idea of how many people to expect.

English Conversation Group

   

Tuesdays, 3 - 5 p.m.

Use Rosetta Stone or chat with others at this 2-hour session. For teens and adults who want to improve their English.

E-mail Basics: Working hands-on at a computer, you'll learn how to set up and use your own free e-mail account.

August 6
Senior Surf Day - A free, beginning computer class for older adults taught by Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging. No computer experience necessary.

August 12
Computer Basics - For people with no computer experience. Learn basic mouse and keyboarding skills and learn about different types of computer equipment and the parts of a computer workstation.

August 20
Internet Basics: Learn what the Internet is; how to use the Internet Explorer browser, access a web site, move around a web page, use search engines; and evaluate information found on the web.

August 27
E-mail Basics: Working hands-on at a computer, you'll learn how to set up and use your own free e-mail account.

GED Classes

   

Preparing to take the GED? Free help is available!

Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Classes are taught by staff from the Hubbs Center for Lifelong Learning.

Circuit Bending Workshop

BeatrixJAR  

August 4, 4:30 p.m.

This Beatrix*JAR workshop transforms circuit board to sonic canvas and gives recycled toys a new life as unique new musical instruments. A direct result of experimentation and play, circuit bending requires very little technical know-how to get started.

Please bring a battery powered toy and extra batteries for the circuit bending workshop.

Driving Directions

From the east, take I-94 to the McKnight Road exit. Turn right and go north on McKnight for 1 long block and turn left on Wilson Avenue. After two short blocks, continue for one long block to the library on your right.

From the west, take I-94 to the Ruth Street exit. Turn left on Ruth Street and proceed two blocks to Wilson Avenue. Turn right on Wilson Avenue and proceed one long block to the library on your left.
