Library’s 125th Anniversary Celebrated with Public Art Dedication

News Release: PDF | Word

Saint Paul Public Library’s Rice Street Branch at 1011 Rice Street in Saint Paul will be celebrating the library system’s 125th anniversary on Saturday, November 10 at 2 p.m.

The dedication ceremony for the new colored glass windows installed in the northeast reading area of the library will begin at 2:30 p.m.. A local artist, Barbara Keith, designed the window mosaics using symbols that reflect the many cultures and ethnic backgrounds of the Rice Street area. Barbara organized a one-day workshop this last spring in which youth of all ages helped her assemble the glass into the windows that are now on display.

Following the art dedication, a talented writer, Biloine Young, who wrote the book, A Noble Task, that chronicles the 125 year history of the Saint Paul Public Library will provide a reading at 3 p.m.

After the reading, guests are invited to stay for birthday refreshments and activities that will entertain all ages.
