December 17, 2007 Saint Paul Public Library Heats up Winter Carnival FestivitiesThe Saint Paul Public Central Library, located across from Rice Park downtown Saint Paul, will extend library hours from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 2 to host cultural programs and a unique candlelight tour of the historic library. Central Library, an Italian Renaissance revival styled building that has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975, was built in 1917 and was renovated and restored to its original splendor in 2002. Architectural highlights include the original puppet stage built in 1949, hand-painted ceilings and the F. Scott Fitzgerald Alcove.
