In August 2013, we surveyed library users about what they enjoy most about the libraries and what they would like to see more of in the future. Here are summaries of the results:
About the Highland Park and Sun Ray Renovation Projects
A public-private investment will support renovation projects at Highland Park and Sun Ray libraries. Construction at each library will begin in early 2014, with project completion anticipated in summer or fall of 2014.
By modernizing and reconfiguring these facilities, the projects will produce more space for the public. The designs will anticipate the adaptability and technology needs of current and future library users.
Highland Park Library was built in 1954 (and known then as the Ford Parkway library). The building was redesigned in 1974, and the current library shares its facility with the Hillcrest Recreation Center. The renovation budget at Highland is $7,930,000.
Sun Ray Library was built in 1970, and minor renovations and additions were done in 1985 and 2000. The Sun Ray library renovation budget is $5,545,000.
