Storytimes at Saint Paul Public Library
Our goal is to encourage and nurture children's love of books, language, and the library, as well as assist parents and caregivers in their efforts to help children get ready and succeed in school.
Storytime at the Library is...
- an opportunity for your family to enjoy books and literacy-related activities with other children, parents, and caregivers.
- a program that is 20-40 minutes in length, depending on the ages and developmental stages of the children.
- offered at the Central Library and all library branches.
Storytime is most beneficial for your child when...
- you discuss storytime so your child will know what to expect.
- you arrive a few minutes early so your child can enjoy the entire program.
- you provide a positive role model by listening and actively participating in the stories and activities.
- you and your child step away momentarily if your child is restless or unhappy.
When storytime is over...
- browse for books to enjoy at home.
- ask Library staff for book recommendations.
- remember to share the storytime songs, fingerplays, and books throughout the week.
