Summer Spark

Summer Spark runs June through August and is for ages 0-18. Teens, we have a Summer Spark just for you!

Summer Spark activityNew Name!

For many years, it's been called Summer Reading Program. We've renamed it Summer Spark because we want to engage kids more deeply, encouraging learning and activity in addition to and beyond reading.

New This Year: Maker Camps! Hands-on, engaging, and inspiring activities for youth ages 8-12.

Family Read Down

During the month of June, you can read down fines and fees by reading in the library - $1 off for every 15 minutes spent reading. Kids, teens, and adults reading with kids/teens can participate. Ask for details at your nearest library.

Learn for Prizes!

When kids read (alone or with someone else) and/or complete fun activities, they earn book prizes of their choice and are entered into drawings for prizes. Visit your library to find out more and pick up reading and activity logs.

Prizes include family memberships to the Minnesota Science Museum or the Minnesota Children's Museum.

Read and/or complete activities to earn a free book and get entered into drawings for prizes like MetroTransit, Chipotle, or local movie theater gift cards.

With all the excitement of the Summer Spark, don't forget about storytimes!

Storytimes are about so much more than stories. They can include puppets, songs, and toys, and you will learn engaging ways to help your children learn.

We offer storytimes at all locations and for all ages, including babies, as well as storytimes in a variety of languages. Find out more.
