Assistive technology is available at the Hayden Heights, Highland Park, and Rondo Community Outreach libraries, offering computer hardware and software for people with vision loss and mobility and learning challenges.

System Access Mobile Network (formerly Freedom Box)
- reads computer screen aloud
JAWS
- reads computer screen aloud; provides verbal information about web pages
Kurzweil 1000
- converts printed or electronic text into speech
Kurzweil 3000
- assists students with language and other challenges with reading, writing and learning
ZoomText (available at Hayden Heights and Highland Park only)
- magnifies text; reads text aloud
Dragon NaturallySpeaking
- recognizes speech to create documents e-mails, fill out forms, and navigate the web
MAGICPro (available at Rondo only)
- magnifies text; reads text aloud

- uses diagramming and outlining to help visual learners integrate ideas and information
