Returns, Loan Periods, Renewals, and Fines for Overdue Materials

Returns

You may return items to any branch of the Saint Paul Public Library. When a library is closed, materials may be deposited in after hours book returns.

Library materials may be returned to any metropolitan area public library with the following exceptions:

Items returned to other library systems will have the return date marked and be sent to the Saint Paul Public Library. Items will still be checked out on customers' cards until they arrive in the Saint Paul system. The date on which the items were returned to the other system will be honored and the check-in of the items will be back-dated to the date of return.

* A maximum of 6 videos or DVD's may be checked out to one borrower at any time.
**A maximum of 12 music CDs or audiocassettes may be checked out to one borrower at any time.
A maximum of 6 books on CD or audiocassette may be checked out to one borrower at any time.

Renewals

Unless requested by another borrower, non-print materials may be renewed once and print materials may be renewed twice. Materials may be renewed:

You may renew materials by accessing your patron record in the library's catalog (How to Renew Online).

By Telephone

You can also renew by telephone. Call our 24-hour automated renewal line at: (651) 292-6002 or any of our branch libraries during open hours. To renew items you will need to refer to information on your library card and on the barcode of the materials you have checked out.
