Beige Book
Published 8 times a year by the federal Reserve Bank, the "Summary of Commentary on Current Economic Conditions" includes summarized data gathered by each Federal reserve Bank District. Topics covered include consumer spending, construction and real estate, manufacturing, employment, and agriculture.

Bureau of Labor Statistics
From the US Department of Labor, this is a good site for employment data for the nation, states, and metropolitan areas, as well as average price data and the consumer price index.
