A division of the United States Department of Health and Human Services that provides information on older persons and services for the elderly. Including the Eldercare Locator, listings for local organizations providing services related to the needs of older people.
Medicare
Official site for U.S. government information about the Medicare program. Sections of this site allow visitors to compare health plans and nursing homes and other programs in their areas.
National Institute on Aging
Leads a broad scientific effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life as well as the primary federal agency on Alzheimer’s disease research. The site includes link to other government sites, news, and health information.
Social Security Administration

AARP
Official site for the group formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons, maintaining that "age is just a number and life is what you make of it." This site includes a wide assortment of information from legislative issues to computer reviews to volunteer opportunities to information about money and work.
Minnesota Senior Federation (Metropolitan Region)
Extensive information for, about, and of interest to seniors, including legislation news, book reviews, health information, pension rights, and volunteer opportunities. There is also a statewide organization.
National Council on the Aging
Association of organizations and professionals dedicated to promoting the dignity, self-determination, well being, and contributions of older persons. This site features links to constituent groups within the NCOA, as well as articles and publications for a range of senior issues.
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)
Membership-based community of older adults in the Twin Cities
metropolitan area who love learning and enjoy spending time with
like-minded individuals. Read the newsletter, peruse the course guide, and choose from more than 180 courses and activities a year.
OWL (Older Women's League)
Focuses on the issues facing midlife and older women. The site includes reports and information about several issues of concern to older women.
Senior Journal

SeniorNet
For computer-using adults, ages 50 and older. This online community offers a wide range of information and access, including book groups and discussion forums on over 400 topics. Some sections of the site require free registration.

Merck Manual of Geriatrics

Alzheimer's Association

Minnesota Department of Health - Facility & Provider Compliance Division
Licenses and inspects health care facilities and providers (including hospitals, nursing homes, home care providers, hospice providers and other health care facilities) and certifies facilities to take part in Medicare and Medicaid programs.
