Tax Help @ the Library
Volunteer assistance with filling out your tax forms is available at several library locations.
Please remember to bring all relevant information (W-2 slips, Social Security number, etc.) with you, and see below for requirements for tax help.
A limited number of people may be served per location per day. There is no guarantee that the volunteers will be able to serve everyone in the time allotted.
Library personnel can help you locate tax forms in paper and online, but cannot help you choose forms, fill out forms or offer tax advice.

AccountAbility Minnesota Taxpayer Assistance Program
Providing free tax preparation assistance to individuals with an annual income of $26,000 or less, families with an annual income of $36,000 or less and small businesses with annual income of $46,000 or less.

Requirements
In order to receive this FREE service, you are required to provide the following:
- Picture ID - state drivers license or state ID or current passport.
- Social Security card for self and all dependents to be claimed; if you haven't been issued a Social Security card, show ITIN number (card)
- Date of birth for self and all dependents to be claimed
- You will be required to sign a form listing your address, phone, date of birth, and social security number
For tax preparation assistance, please bring:
- List of all assistance and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments
- W-2 forms
- Last year's tax return, if possible
- For preparation of Minnesota renter rebate, Certificate of Rent Paid (CRP) form is required.
If itemizing your taxes bring:
- 1099-D (dividends)
- 1099 INT (interest income)
- Form 1098 (mortgage interest statement)
- All documentation on home improvement loans
- All documentation on school loans
- Receipts for medical costs, school costs and supplies, and charity donations
Please Note:
- Non-English speakers must bring their own interpreters.
- Preparers will do ONE year's return per visit.
